Volunteer in Administration

Receptionist
Dates: On-going. Minimum 3 month commitment (a school quarter)
Days: Monday-Thursday, 3-4hour shifts available between 2pm-7pm.
Location: NewHolly Family Center (7052 32nd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118)
Volunteer support needed at front desk to provide warm welcome, answer phones, provide program and other information, support program registration and survey processes, support drop-in visitors and participants, etc. May include some office work such as filing, collating, putting together supply orders or helping to prepare for program. Got computer skills? – Help prepare flyers and calendars or assist with data organization and entry. Student volunteers can use ‘down time’ to work on homework.
Volunteers should enjoy diverse people of all ages and have good communication and problem solving skills. Speakers of other languages welcome
Rainier Beach Family Center (RBFC) Receptionist /Office Assistant
Date: Monday - Fridays (days are flexible) Volunteer shift time 3:00 – 6:00pm
Location: Rainier Beach Family Center 4730 – 32nd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118 (located inside of Zion Preparatory Academy)
RBFC is in need of volunteers for office support. Volunteers can expect to meet and greet visitors, answer phones, provide office support (copies, faxing, etc.), assist with planning future activities, provide outreach to schools about programs and volunteer opportunities.
ASC “Champion” and Outreach Volunteer
Dates/Days: monthly or quarterly. TBD with volunteer/s.
Location: varies, depending on agency need and/or volunteer capacity/interest/’reach’. Could be at an event, at a specific location such as Public Housing Management Office (rent days), at/to schools, at agency sites on Open House/Information days, out in community at sites to be determined. Championing activities may be conducted on behalf of ASC and/or with ASC staff. Training and materials provided. This assignment is under development so please contact us for further information or to share your ideas.
Grant Researcher
Schedule and location: This position can be done from any where and at any time as long as the person has access to a private computer with internet and email. Please note that the volunteer will be using a confidential username and password to access the grants database so use of public computers (such as at the public library) is not allowed. Volunteer will need to come to ASC's offices for one hour of training and will need to check in with on-site supervisor every other week (by phone or email or in person).
DUTIES: The Resource Development Department is responsible for raising money to support Atlantic Street Center's programs and operations. The volunteer Grant Researcher will use a grants database and the internet to identify funding sources that are potentially a good match for our programs and services. Experienced adult or college student preferred.
